Day 75: Broken Break Rules

Published on: March 16, 2018March 15, 2018 by Missy O'Brien Category:365 Days of Mirth 3 Comments

It’s spring break, one of the wonders of working for the school district. It’s not paid vacation, mind you, but it’s vacation – always a fabulous thing. The building is in a frenzy of anticipation for several weeks. Almost hourly, someone heading out to an exotic locale saunters through...

Day 74: Sixty in Six

“I was raised by Old People; I like my creature comforts.” Son #2 says this at dinner, in the suave radio-personality voice he adopts when he’s in entertainment mode, out to amuse others with polished practiced tidbits. Son #2 notices that he is currently out to amuse the Old...

The Search for Mirth

Gratitude is easy — you’re upright with a pulse and still remember where you live? Grateful, and done!

Mirth is hard — one look at the headlines can rob you of the will to live. Why bother with pointless exercises like brushing your teeth or breathing?

And so I search for Mirth — a capricious mistress, whimsical and perverse and untidy and contrary. But that’s what makes her interesting.

While misery loves company, Mirth enjoys it even more. Thanks for joining me!

I don't know how the hell to spell frankincense, either. It's a terrible title for a blog. Just subscribe to Mirth or bookmark the site, and you'll never have to fumble-finger it again.
